Last evening, I finish my class on ethics with Dr Abdul Razak, lecturer from Kulliyyah of Science. Today's discussion was about Khayr, birr with subtopic on Prophetic Narrations on Ethics and amr-ma'ruf, nahyul mungkar. Nothing special with today's lecture. But, I got new knowledge and I can bring my thought to look things from the other side.
A few lessons
1)It is reported that the Prophet (saw) said: you cannot afford to win the hearts of people through your wealth, but you can win their hearts with a smiling face and good morals.
2) Abdullah ibn ‘umar said: The Messenger of Allah never indulged in indecent talk nor was discourteous. He used to say: “The best amongst you are those who are the owners of the best morality.”
Regarding Amr-ma'ruf and Nahyul Munkar
Evidence from Quran :
.“Ye are the best of peoples, evolved for mankind, enjoining what is right, forbidding what is wrong, and believing in Allah. If only the People of the Book had faith, it were best for them: among them are some who have faith, but most of them are perverted transgressors.” (3:110).
Among the importance of Amr-ma'ruf and Nahyul Munkar:
-To ensure that goodness will spread and stop evil from spreading.
-One needs to be reminded always to keep on the right way.
-Promotion of collectivism, team-spirit and social interdependence.
-Way of eliminating corruption and safeguarding the public interest.
Few suggestion (textually) to enhance Amr-ma'ruf and Nahyul Munkar:
1)Both the language and the behaviour are important.
2)Standardized Guidelines and authority approved mechanisms are needed.
3)All social sectors are needed to participate the process of implementing E.G. and F.E., such as, educators, teachers, parents and the mass media as well as non governmental organizations.
I just wondering. How would present da'ie@preacher@lecturer@teacher will survive to support this enjoining the good and forbidding the evil (Amr-ma'ruf and Nahyul Munkar) will succeed if the current government and mass media still 'innocently' doing the vice versa (enjoining the evil and forbidding the good (Amr-munkar and Nahyul ma'ruf )).
How come..how come..
